Support for Various Printer Systems
With the new type of mobile card reader receipts are commonly sent by text message or email. Payleven have added support for various printer systems allowing merchants to print receipts if desired. Printers supported include the Bixolon (SPP-R200II), Epson (TM-T88V with UB-R03) and Star Micronics (SM-S220i). These are small, portable printers.
Multiple Payleven chip and PIN machines can now be managed from a single master account. The multi account allows sales on each device to be tracked and permission to give refunds granted or revoked for each device. Now available on iOS devices, multi accounts will soon also be available for Android.
Mobile Card Machines
There are several mobile card readers available in the UK and other European markets. At present there is little to choose between them. They all offer a flat transaction charge of 2.75% and no set up or other ongoing fees. Some card readers are available free with chip and PIN readers being £89-£99.
Each company is looking to differentiate themselves from the competition at present. iZettle claim to have great customer service, SumUp’s card reader is free. The additional feature introduced by Payleven today make their offering more like traditional card readers in that multiple machines can be controlled from 1 account. This type of feature may allow Payleven to challenge for business from larger companies who would not have considered mobile chip and PIN readers until now.
With PayPal set to release their PayPal Here card reader this summer in the UK competitiors will need to do everything they can to add value to their product.
Payleven’s card reader is a chip and PIN machine which connects with a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. Payleven is a startup founded in March 2012, funded by Rocket internet. The company is the brainchild of the Sawmer brothers who have a successful track record of mirroring successful US e-commerce solutions in the European market.
