Payleven have announced 2 new partnerships recently, one to compliment their product, one to increase sales. The first, announced a few weeks ago, is a technology partnership with MICROS while the latest announcement brings Payleven card readers into Apple stores.
Kachng!
MICROS provide point of sale (POS) hardware and software solutions primarily in the hospitality and retail markets. The Payleven/ MICROS partnership has spawned kachng!, offering a cloud based POS system. The system is accessible through your tablet, smartphone or PC via 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi. The POS is compatible with chip and PIN and is available from £49/ month.
According to the kachng! website the solution is for small to medium sized businesses, though the maximum number of machines you can run on 1 account is currently 4. Now available in the UK kachng! will soon be available throughout Europe.
Apple
If you go to an Apple store in the UK you will now find among their products Payleven chip and PIN readers. The devices cost £99 including £20 credit, the same price as on the Payleven website. Apple partner with Square in the US, however Square do not currently have a chip and PIN device and don’t yet operate in the European markets.
Payleven were Apple’s partner of choice for Europe which is a coup for Payleven as there is significant competition. In order to get their product in Apple stores the company had to comply with Apple’s detailed requirements relating to the design of the product and even the packaging. The partnership ties in with Payleven’s recent announcement to broaden the availability to individuals. Payleven have hinted they will soon be partnering with other retailers and already have a similar arrangement in place in Germany with Telefonica O2.
