Handpoint are an Icelandic mobile payment firm who now offer mobile chip and PIN readers in the UK. The solution is available for individuals right through to enterprise level companies, with advanced security features making Handpoint technologically viable for larger companies.
To date many of the mobile card readers released in the UK have been geared towards micro businesses. The card readers connect with a mobile phone to take payments. The Handpoint card readers connect with your mobile device in a similar way, however the technology behind Handpoint allows multiple devices to be easily and securely connected under 1 account. That makes Handpoint an option for larger businesses who have previously faced security and complexity barriers when it comes to mobile chip and PIN solutions.

One of the key features of the Handpoint solution is the ability to easily and securely connect devices under 1 account. That is possible because the solution has been built from the ground up with larger companies in mind. The API and the fact the card readers have P2PE PCI certification are crucial.
The API makes it simple for merchants to operate the MPOS over various devices including mobile phones and PCs. A software development kit is available so companies can integrate their current retail software with the Handpoint API. That allows companies to use their existing checkout systems with Handpoint on mobile devices.
P2PE PCI certification is a type of security certification issued by the card industry security standards council. It means that all card data is encrypted point-to-point and handled by a PCI approved payment gateway. The card data is encrypted immediately by the card reader and is not available to any device or system that interacts with the mobile point of sale system at any time. With this in place larger merchants do not need to themselves be certified by the PCI to use the Handpoint MPOS, they are covered by completing a self assessment form.
Businesses looking for 1 card reader pay the listed price and larger companies are priced individually. The monthly fee is £15 and the % variable for larger firms.
